DIY Painted Terra Cotta Pots

Spring has officially arrived!  And what better way to celebrate the warmer season than with some colorful plant life. My obsession with succulents started last year when I realized I didn't have much of a green thumb and these suckers are hard to kill.

Now that we are in the process of re-decorating my office I wanted to add a little splash of color to my walls. This is when Pinterest took a couple of hours out of my afternoon. I stumbled upon this great blog post by Oak Furniture Land, 10 DIY Pretty Plant Pots You Can Create This Weekend. Can we say the title was all I needed to read to know this was it.
After work I went straight to the store and found myself some cute little succulents and terra cotta pots. The plants were a whopping $2 each and the pots + plates were $1.40 each. I considered this a steal.

I had left over acrylic paint and brushes from a previous antler project (I will post about it soon I promise!) As I painted I found that I preferred a bristle brush over the sponge.
Taking a note from Miss Renaissance I used washi tape (or painters tape could be used too) to section off the area I wanted gold for pot #1 and #3. The other two pots I used a metallic gold sharpie.

Homemade Spicy Black Bean Veggie Burgers

  1. In a medium bowl, mash black beans with a fork until thick and pasty.
  2. In a small bowl, stir together eggs and Mrs Dash Southwest Chipotle Seasoning.
  3. Stir the egg mixture into the mashed beans. Mix in bread crumbs until the mixture is sticky and holds together. Divide mixture into 10 patties.
  4. I use a griddle, heat to 375ยบ, grill each side 8 minutes (16 minutes total)

  • I use a 1/2 cup measuring cup to put pattie mixture into, then place onto grill. This helps me keep my patties semi-circular.
  • I usually freeze 1/2 my batch. They freeze easily and still taste wonderful once unthawed.
  • This is a very cheap and easy meal. Price per pattie break down: black beans $1.58 ($0.79 each can) + corn $1.15 + 2 eggs $0.20 ($0.10 each egg) = $4.51 / 10 patties = $0.45 each.

Let's Celebrate Mommy-to-be Olivia!

I am from a small town in Wyoming so I of course am a little obsessed with antlers. So what better than a baby shower invitation combining my love of antlers and a cute chevron pattern.

All of our invitations can be customized with colors and wording of your choosing, making them truly customized for you. Keep a look out for matching party extras, including mad lib wishes for baby, advice for mommy-to-be, and prediction cards.

Mixed Berry Smoothie Prep = My Morning #Jam

Mixed Berry Smoothie Meal Prep How To

I shared my favorite Mixed Berry Smoothie recipe at a cycling party about a month ago and received requests for the recipe. Needless to say they were at hit! So this is for those who got a little taste and were interested in what my ‎smoothie ‎prep included.

Each week I scan the grocery ads for sales on fruits and veggies. This usually ends with me at our local Aldi's store.  I usually buy whatever I can find on sale, if I'm lucky I can find everything below.
Estimated calories: 390; fat: 7g; Carbs: 40; Protein: 42; Fiber: 12

Mixed Berry Smoothies
  • blueberries

  • raspberries
  • blackberries
  • strawberries
  • spinach

You can see in the photo that I have maybe a small handful of each fruit. These are only 1 person servings. If you have a family that you will be making smoothies for I'd suggest adding more to each bag. I then freeze. In the mornings I simply dump 1 bag into the blender.

Add to the blender:

  • 1/2 c vanilla Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 c almond milk  (I usually go for Silk almond milk with protein + fiber)
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein (I use Cellucor Whipped Vanilla but you can add whatever brand of your choosing or not at all)
  • tbs flax seed
  • tbs chia seeds

I initially began prepping my smoothies to help ease my hectic morning routine. I get up every morning at 4:30 a.m. and at the gym by 5 a.m. Once I am showered and ready for the day I have maybe a 15-20 minute window for breakfast.  My commute take me about 40 minutes and this was an easy go-to for breakfast on the go.

I'd love to hear any feedback from others who have tried or other recipes you'd like to share.

Hanging Tough - WOD

Not sure how many of you know but I'd like to consider myself a little bit of a fitness junky (that might be putting it mildly). I am constantly looking for new workouts and moves to incorporate into my already existing routine, along with new events that will push me outside of my comfort zone.

I even get to test some of these workouts on a "lucky" group of participants who join me for class. Here is a little program we did a few weeks back. I like to call it Hanging Tough (this is where you name that artist).

Karson + Khole are Getting Married!

It is already the middle of March and the wedding season officially started for me a couple of months ago. This year I had some goals in mind for our ETSY shop. One of those goals was to allow myself one day a week to be creative, create some great new pieces that I can be really proud of.

So as the weeks progress I will be sharing some of these new creations. I hope you love them as much as I do.

This week is a save the date postcard that I've title Karson + Khole are Getting Married! I have this weird thing that I love couples with same starting letter names.

Of course I am also obsessed with blush pinks and mints this year, but these save the dates can be customized to fit your wedding colors.
